our friend Kayte Terry of thisisloveforever.com has a new book!!! We worked with her at Anthropologie a few years back and were over joyed when she asked us to create a project for this book. The photographer for the book is another anthro girl Jen Causey. They were both so much fun to work with! We can’t wait to get our hands on a copy!! You can get yours on one here through amazon!!
One of the structures on the property that we have been working on is a cute lil shed. It was quite a disaster when we first started but after cleaning out all the stuff it has become a nice studio space to work. I love working in here because it makes me feel like a grandpa. If I only had a pair of overalls and a pipe.
shed before

we built doors for the front out of old windows we found. each of the four sections open seperately

…it’s still a little cluttered…sorry mom… but on its way! Quite a different environment from our brooklyn studio !
Our dear friend Kristi Schiffmann takes the most beautiful food and still life photos. love love love

i hope to start a family of alpacas soon. i’ve been looking at them for years on this site: http://www.alpacafarm.com/. buuuut… i recently discovered that they can be purchased for a minimum of $150!!! this really wets my whistle! my dreams were crushed because i thought they were all as expensive as drama queen:
$31,500! now that’s a fine breed.

i want to build one of these and stay in it for a while. wigwams can withstand the harshest of weather… native americans stayed in these when it was too cold for a tepee. maybe this could be our winter dwelling. it also kinda looks like a haircut i recently had… time for a trim!
we love our friend Marcel. He is the raddest dude alive. He always helps us when we are in need. He is the best collaborator and inspiration two girls could have.

i mean…. look at that accuracy!!! amazing!
Whats even better is that he is a part of one of the raddest online mags out there too!!
Check out Working Class Magazine and maybe you too will be swooned by the magic of marcy.
there is nothing better than chopping down some trees.
we are in love with tepees and pretty much anything done by the native american indians.
it is so rad to think that we could all build our own homes from what is available on the land around us
Cherokee Prayer Blessing
May the Warm Winds of Heaven
Blow softly upon your house.
May the Great Spirit
Bless all who enter there.
May your Mocassins
Make happy tracks
in many snows,
and may the Rainbow
Always touch your shoulder.
here are some shots of a big tepee structure we built on the farm and some of the building of our applefest booth that we made out of the sticks from the tepee…..maybe we can build a wigwam next

hola! welcome to our new blog! we finally realized that the reason we couldn’t keep up with our daily blog was not simply because we are lazy but because we didn’t know how to navigate wordpress (so maybe we are just computer illiterate! ah!)

but we’re back and ready to show you work from the past six months or more. for those who don’t know… domestic construction has relocated to upstate new york. we serve as artists in residence at blough farm in campbell hall. on the weekends this place becomes a yoga retreat center— www.iheartheartland.com— but we now live and work here full time. here are some pics from the first project that brought us up here many moons ago, it’s the ceiling for the yoga room. what a journey this has been. scroll down to see some other pics of the work we’ve done. the house is a constant work in progress!

here are some pics of the property
